Crypto.com to close its Hong Kong app in 2027

Crypto.com will stop offering its consumer app to users in Hong Kong from 1 February 2027, a spokesperson told Bloomberg. Crypto.com has not yet published a notice of its own, so our Hong Kong row is unchanged.

Crypto.com will stop offering its consumer app to users in Hong Kong from 1 February 2027, a company spokesperson told Bloomberg on 2 November 2026. The spokesperson said the move is part of an effort to “optimize global operations” and put resources where the company sees the most lasting opportunities.

What Crypto.com has said

The statement covers three points. The consumer app will not be available to users in Hong Kong as of 1 February 2027. Every affected customer has already been given advance notice. Crypto.com will send instructions for closing accounts, and support will be on hand so that customers can withdraw their funds in an orderly way.

The statement gives no number of affected customers and no withdrawal deadline before 1 February.

What is not confirmed yet

Crypto.com has not published the change itself. On 3 November 2026 we found no notice about Hong Kong in its help centre, and its App geo-restrictions list, the page that names the places the App does not serve, does not list Hong Kong. That page was last updated more than six months ago. Until Crypto.com’s own documents carry the date, this is a reported plan, and we treat it at low confidence.

Crypto.com’s licence in Hong Kong

Crypto.com’s local company, Foris DAX HK Limited, applied to the Securities and Futures Commission for a virtual asset trading platform licence on 9 February 2024. The SFC’s list of applicants, which we read on 3 November 2026, still shows the application. It marks the company as deemed to be licensed under the anti-money laundering ordinance, which lets it keep operating while the application is decided. The SFC states plainly that it has not formally licensed any deemed-to-be-licensed applicant.

The app closure does not withdraw that application. The SFC list concerns the trading platform, while the closure concerns the consumer app.

Who is affected

Hong Kong residents who use the Crypto.com App. Crypto.com’s Exchange already excludes Hong Kong: Hong Kong is on its geo-restrictions lists for spot trading and for derivatives. So when the App closes, retail customers in Hong Kong will have no Crypto.com product left.

What users can do

Watch for Crypto.com’s instructions and withdraw well before 1 February 2027. Other tracked exchanges are available in Hong Kong in our data, including Kraken, Coinbase, Bitstamp and Bitfinex. Check each platform’s page for the products it offers there.

What changes in our data

Nothing yet. Crypto.com stays limited in Hong Kong: the App serves it, the Exchange does not. Once Crypto.com confirms the date in its own documents, we will record Crypto.com as restricted in Hong Kong from 1 February 2027 and update its page.
