On 21 March 2024 CoinDesk reported that OKX had told Indian clients it would stop serving them because of local regulations. Crypto service providers must register with India’s Financial Intelligence Unit, and OKX was not among the 28 companies registered at the end of 2023.
What changed
- Withdrawals only after 30 April 2024. Indian accounts were restricted to withdrawing funds from that date.
- Positions closed first. Clients had to close margin, perpetual, futures and options positions and withdraw funds by 30 April.
