Connecticut’s Department of Consumer Protection sent cease-and-desist orders to nine prediction market companies on 10 September 2026, WSHU reported. The nine are Polymarket, Coinbase, Crypto.com, Robinhood, ProphetX, Novig, Webull, Gemini and Underdog Predict. The state accuses them of running illegal sports betting.

What the orders require

According to WFSB, the companies must stop offering or promoting sports event contracts to Connecticut residents and let customers withdraw their money. The state also issued nearly 30 subpoenas to gaming providers and other businesses. WSHU says one of the companies has committed to complying.
